The Local Government Inspectorate, as the integrity agency for local government in Victoria, will conduct an examination of governance processes at West Wimmera Shire Council next week.
This examination is to ensure the council’s governance arrangements meet the expectations of the community and the legislated framework. Inspectorate staff will consult with elected councillors and council administration as part of this work.
Chief Municipal Inspector David Wolf said, “Governance examinations are conducted regularly at councils across the state and are designed to assess governance requirements and ensure operating procedures are compliant with relevant legislation.”
The initial examination will occur during the week of 10 September 2018 with analysis and report to follow in due course. The Inspectorate will work with West Wimmera Shire Council through this process including the provision of the findings to the community.
Any queries relating to this work should be directed to the Inspectorate.
