About the Chief Municipal Inspector, team and reports

We’re an independent agency that ensures Victorian councils follow the Local Government Act 2020. We take complaints and assess them. We also conduct investigations into councils and councillors.

The head of the Local Government Inspectorate is Michael Stefanovic, Victoria's Chief Municipal Inspector.
